Boiler Control System Retrofit, Bremerton, WA

The shipyard's obsolete Boiler Control Benchboards, Plant Auxiliary Benchboard, and operator control consoles required replacement due to non-compliance with current standards and energy-saving requirements. Systems Interface, in collaboration with Coburn Contractors and MacDonald Miller, provided a complete solution from design to installation, including training and commissioning services. Our engineers played a crucial role in overseeing the removal of the old system, coordinating the installation of new hardware and software, control panels, server, workstation, and monitoring. Acting as the main contact with the Navy, they ensured a successful upgrade process.

Radio Antenna

In Pyeongchang, South Korea, the University of Seoul initiated a significant project: a 21-meter diameter radio telescope, part of an array of instruments for deep space observation.

Built for speed and function

The Rockwell Automation ControlLogix 5580 Controller and Kinetix 5700 Servo Drive control system played a crucial role, governing precise movements with its four servo motors, two per axis, at a maximum speed of 3 degrees per second.

Up Close & Personal

Our responsibility encompassed the design and implementation of the electrical control system and industrial software. We ensured the integration of safety features, warning devices, and a robust communication network linking the Kinetix 5700 to the university's control system.

Beyond installation, our team executed meticulous start-up, commissioning, and testing processes to optimize system performance. The result is a seamless fusion of advanced technology and scientific inquiry, guiding the radio telescope with precision as it explores the depths of space from the mountains of Pyeongchang.
