Heavy Moveable Structures - High Inertia/Overhauling Loads - Radar Antennas - Telescope and Antenna Positioning Systems - Rocket Launch Systems - Material Handling - Winches
Systems Interface excels in the comprehensive process of designing, manufacturing, and commissioning advanced moveable bridge control systems. Leveraging our extensive expertise, we adeptly navigate the intricate design specifications mandated by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) for moveable bridges.
Our experience also applies to AASHTO Movable Bridge Inspection, Evaluation, and Maintenance requirements. We have conducted many In-Depth Bridge Inspections for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
Systems Interface Inc. has designed, manufactured, programmed, commissioned, and maintained drive and control systems for not only moveable bridges, but also high Inertia/overhauling loads and heavy moveable structures such as rocket launch systems, antennas, radar domes, and telescopes throughout our company’s 40-year history.

Mukilteo Ferry Upgrade
In December 2020, Washington State Ferries launched its new ferry terminal in Mukilteo, Washington, providing a positive conclusion to the year and facilitating traffic for the upcoming year of 2021. Prior to the terminal's opening, Systems Interface collaborated with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) engineering staff to assist in the testing and commissioning of the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) program for the new facility's passenger overhead Loading (OHL) controls and Vehicle Transfer Span (VTS) controls.
Evergreen Point Floating Bridge (SR520), Seattle, WA
The SR520 Floating Bridge spans Lake Washington in Seattle, Washington and is the largest floating bridge in the US.
We were honored to be a part of this project. The scope of work consisted of a Bridge Alarm Leak Detection Monitoring system for all the floating bridge concrete pontoons, medium voltage power stations, smoke detectors, and Cathodic Protection Systems. It also controls the bridge lighting, navigation lights, and walkway lighting.
The Primary control components consist of a Rockwell Automation ControlLogix®PLC system with Panelview HMI terminals utilizing a redundant Ethernet Protocol over a fiber optic network.

Boiler Control System Retrofit, Bremerton, WA
The shipyard's obsolete Boiler Control Benchboards, Plant Auxiliary Benchboard, and operator control consoles required replacement due to non-compliance with current standards and energy-saving requirements. Systems Interface, in collaboration with Coburn Contractors and MacDonald Miller, provided a complete solution from design to installation, including training and commissioning services. Our engineers played a crucial role in overseeing the removal of the old system, coordinating the installation of new hardware and software, control panels, server, workstation, and monitoring. Acting as the main contact with the Navy, they ensured a successful upgrade process.
